The success story of the Fissler pressure cooker began in 1953 with the invention of a multi-stage safety valve, which made the pressure cooker safe for home use for the first time. Vegetables cooked in a pressure cooker contained up to 65 percent more vitamin C than conventionally cooked vegetables.

While approximately 189 percent of the valuable vitamin C was retained during pressure cooking, vegetables cooked conventionally in water contained only 124 percent.

Pulses cooked in a pressure cooker contained between 16 and 56 percent more thiamin than conventionally cooked pulses.

When cooked quickly, the thiamine content even increased to up to 105 percent, while the legumes cooked conventionally in water contained only 36 percent.
